Things We Enjoyed This Week: Eli Roth’s Goretorium & the Mandarin Hotel Las Vegas

September 29, 2012 by MsCheevious

Things We Enjoyed This Week – The Week of September 23, 2012

Eli Roth’s Goretorium in Las Vegas &

The Mandarin Hotel Las Vegas

————————————————————————————————————————–

Eli Roth’s Goretorium in Las Vegas

What it is: A 24-7, Year-Round Horror Attraction on the Las Vegas strip, right across from the Cosmopolitan

Why We Enjoyed It: Because we were flown in and provided luxurious lodging for the grand VIP opening (and by we, I mean me). That’s enough reason for us, but we also walked down the black carpet (and everyone knows that in the world of horror, black is the new red), and secured sufficient photographs and interviews for our PR client. Our thrill was probably nine tenth’s anticipation, because the place was the dream child of and concocted by Hollywood horror director and actor Eli Roth.

One Thing We Especially Liked: Baby Dolls Nightclub (on the top floor)

We especially liked it because, whew, we’d made it through the “haunt” that was a maze of gore, violence and near zombie attacks. Then voila, there we were in a nightclub, with scantilly clad women handing us free cocktails (this was, of course, because of the grand opening. You won’t get free cocktails if you go there unless you know someone, or are, in fact, Eli Roth. So, please don’t tell them we said you could.), and we could look out over the city of Las Vegas.

We were mesmerized (or horrified, I suppose) by the great wall of dead baby heads.  Yes, dead baby heads. It’s gross, it’s gory and it’s downright disgusting. But hey, Dane Cook made “Baby Punching” comedic, so what were we to expect from the masterminds of gore and horror in this, their pet project?

Another Thing We Liked: The close proximity to the Cosmopolitan Hotel, and our all-time FAVORITE giant stiletto (because, our list of favorite giant stilettos is quite long).

Goretorium is an attraction that will probably thrill most teenagers, any horror fan you know, or those looking for something completely different to do on the Vegas strip. Send them here: GORETORIUM

————————————————————————————————————————–

The Mandarin Hotel Las Vegas

What it is: A Zen-Like Premiere, Luxury Hotel on the Vegas Strip

Why We Enjoyed It: It’s a refreshing and relaxing luxury hotel experience in Vegas ===> there is no casino… there are no loud nightclubs. The opulence of the lobbies (there are two) and the plush rooms, without the cigarette smoke or whirring, dinging sounds of slot machines nearby make you feel as though you are not in Sin City. The ambient music and atmosphere is uber relaxing. Even the turn-down service consists of rose petals, candles and pebbles by your bedside. It’s perfect for non-smoking gambling addicts, or those addicted to pampering (that’s me). It’s also a perfect retreat after a night of wild and crazy indulgences out on the strip (also me).

One Thing We Especially Liked: What’s not to like? The rooms felt like we were in the most serene of spas. The ground floor lobby accents included deep red tulips on the tables (a personal favorite).  Also the Gold Pillow Wall on the 1st Floor Lobby, and the Gold Nugget Wall on the 23rd Floor Sky Lobby.

Here are some photos:

PS) So sorry the link that said “Don’t Be Shy! Leave a Reply” in last week’s email was incorrect. I’ve hired some new link elves, and I think it’s been rectified for now. No promises on long-term link-elf accuracy. The shelf life of accurate link elves is entirely unpredictable.

Irish Whiskey A Go Go

July 24, 2011 by MsCheevious

Or should I say – to go – go. I was recently visiting my home town of Albuquerque, New Mexico. With that trip came a few facebook posts and emails from old friends who wished to reconnect while I was in town. One of those was my old friend, and former jazz (everything) guitarist / accompanist Strings McGillicuddy (for you newbies, I change the names of all my peeps to secure their privacy – and hide their Shenanigans too! But in case you want to hire him to play at your establishment or event in or around New Mexico – well his real name is TIM – ha ha. But for the purposes of this blog, He’s STRINGS baby). Strings had recently connected with me on Facebook and seen a posted photo of a glass of Jameson’s Irish Whiskey (one of my favorites).  When he found out I’d be back in town, he challenged me to a blind taste test of Irish whiskeys. So we did it.  We met at Two Fools Tavern – known (according to Strings) for it’s wide selection of Irish Whiskey, and also known for having food that is not your ordinary Irish Pub food.  Better.

Well, you KNOW I said yes – and – well –  BRING IT ON.  Here’s the video (oh!  and one of Strings M’s songs is the soundtrack for the video!!!):

Hot Bikini Chicks = Top Celebrities

April 16, 2010 by MsCheevious

So, M.C. Nugget and I attended an event this week — the “Bikini Candy Tour Launch Party Benefiting Willie Gault’s AFL Foundation” (that’s Athlete’s For Life – in case you didn’t know).

The event was promoted as this “premiere star-studded event,” with a confirmed guestlist that read as such:

Kim Kardashian, Khloe Kardashian, Kourtney Kardashian, Lamar Odom, Jamal Brown, Ashton Kutcher, Wilmer Valderama, Tyrese, Avant, Paris Hilton, Nicole Scherzinger, Omar Gooding, Ron Artest, Shannon Brown, Jordan Farmar, Shemar Moore, Molly Shea, Brian White, Carl Anthony Payne II, Kevin Garnet, Troy Hudson, Terrell Owens, Rashad McCants, Mario Barrett, Chris Hope. Gabe Pruitt, DJ Strawberry, Ray J, Angela Simmons, Vanessa Simmons, Teddy Riley, John Legend, Travis Barker, Marlon Wayans and many more!

Let me just say that the only people on the list above that made an appearance were Omar Gooding and Molly Shea.  At least from what I could tell.  But the event did bring in a few surprise extras like Oscar winner, Jaime Foxx and his pal, Duane Martin.

I must admit, when I first read the guest list, I wasn’t impressed.  Not because the list itself wasn’t impressive, but because this happens all the time in Hollywood.  Event promoters often pad their “celebrity” attendance list with those they have merely extended invites to (like Ashton Kutcher or Paris Hilton).  And in the case of charities, they’ll often get celebrities to agree to “support” the cause, or at the very least, lend their name to the event.  But rarely do these a-listers actually show.

So, although Athletes for Life is a worthy cause, mentoring kids to live a healthy lifestyle, I had to wonder what it was that made people like Jaime Foxx and even my own man, M.C. Nugget venture out that night.

Well, kiddos, I’ve got the answer.

It was a BIKINI CONTEST people!  Helloooooo!  And these girls were not just anyone off the street competing to win whatever prize was in store.  They were sexy, young models!

As M.C. and I sat there, perplexed, we surmised what was transpiring before our eyes that evening – and of course enjoying every single minute.  We decided right then and there, we were changing career paths.  Yes, M.C. and I are going into the event business (well, okay, so I already do events for peeps).  But the formula was just too simple:   Find a charity to support, get celebrities on board to lend their names, then bring in the scantilly clad hot chicks!

Why not?

Here are some of the pics from that night – and guess what?  I even got photographed!  Oh yeah… I’m somebody now.  Ha ha!

That’s it for now folks.  Check out the Athelet’s For Life website!  It truly is a good cause!
Tonight we are off to The Kress nightclub in Hollywood for a birthday party for a world famous publicist to the stars.  The theme is “Be the Paparazzi” and no one is admitted without a camera.  We’re suppose to dress to impress.  Looking forward to that.  Fun stuff, eh?  I’ll fill you in later. Stay tuned next week.
In the meantime, enjoy your spring weekend, wherever you are, and no matter the weather!  Have a fabulous one my lovelies!

I Am On FIRE!

January 9, 2010 by MsCheevious

Don’t be Shy!  Leave a Reply!

So, the date was December 19, 2009. M.C. and I hosted a little holiday party at my place. It was awesome. People came and went. A couple of my clients stopped by, as well as some family… It was the usual holiday get-together.  That is, until about 2:00 am.

That’s when all that remained were me, M.C. and a couple of our friends who decided to stick around and gab. At one point we decided to start taking photos to remember the evening.

I was the first designated photographer (and last – you’ll see why in a second). I moved in to get a great shot, and leaned over to get an even  “better” angle of the three of them.  I didn’t realize I was dangerously close to a taper candle M.C. lit earlier that evening.

My girlfriend gasped and said, “Lisa! Your hair’s, on fire!” I shrugged it off and patted it out… or so I thought, until she continued, “No! It’s REALLY on fire!”

Just then M.C. took two very large strides in my direction and somehow patted the flames out — VERY quickly.  (Actually all of that happened in a matter of seconds).

That was it for the photo session!  I ran to my bathroom to observe the damage, and believe it or not, there was NO VISIBLE DAMAGE?  I am NOT kidding!  That’s what I get for accommodating my friends and being the designated photog!  Ha!

The only thing I can think of which may have prevented my hair from going “POOF!” and literally bursting into flames, however, is that I’d been using a new hair product for a while (that day and evening included). It was a heat protector to be used prior to flat-ironing your hair.  I’d been in search of something like it for years, and when I found it a few months back, I immediately began to use it.  It protects your hair up to 475 degrees, Fahrenheit.  So – I am thinking it had to have some sort of FLAME RETARDANT in the mix!  Ha ha!  Is that CRAZY or WHAT?

So, here is a picture of me with some super imposed flames on my hair.  I never got any pictures of myself that evening… as I mentioned!  By the time we got around to taking photos, my hair burst into flames!  HA HA!

I’m told this is how big the flame was (or at least this is how I imagined it based on the saucer-sized eye balls my girlfriend had)!!

What’s funny is that about a week later, my girlfriend called me up to tell me that I must have angels around me, because my whole head of hair was engulfed in flames, and there was NO damage.  We were laughing about it.  I told her about my little product, which, of course, she asked me to pick up for her the next time I saw it.

Fast forward to this past Wednesday.  She was back at my house, prior to an event I was taking her to (she is also a client of mine).  It was the People’s Choice Awards Post Celebration Party Benefiting Britticares (for kids with cancer).  Long story short, I was still finishing up my “flat-iron” routine when she arrived, so she chatted with me while I finished up.  My “product” was sitting on the counter, and I held it up to her.  And I swear, it was the FIRST time I’d actually paid any attention to the name, but it was called “GUARDIAN ANGEL.”  I kid you NOT.  Pretty funny!  We CRACKED UP at the fact that not only did I have angels around me, but I also had a GUARDIAN ANGEL – in a BOTTLE!  Ha!

And – of course, without further adieu – here it is, my friends. My “Guardian Angel”:

Be sure to click this link and buy it now (shameless plug, I know).

So – we laughed and went off to enjoy a fabulous night at the People’s Choice Awards Post Celebration.  It was a fantastic event, and my girl and another celebrity friend were photographed, interviewed, hit up for autographs – the whole shebang (sp?).

Whew!  I’m SOOO glad I can take that one off the list! I now know what it’s like to be ON FIRE.

Have a fantastic weekend you marvelously gorgeous humans!

Love you people!  Mmmmmmppphhuuuhhhhhh!!

xoxo,

Ms. Cheevious
